Arizona Recall Incentive Program - Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the recall incentive program?
The Arizona Attorney General Office and American Honda Motor Co., Inc. entered into a consent decree in October 2020 to resolve concerns related to Honda’s sale of vehicles equipped with Takata airbag inflators that are now subject to recall.
As part of this settlement, Honda commits to providing monetary incentives to encourage Arizona residents to have the recalled and defective Takata airbag inflators in their vehicle repaired. The Arizona Attorney General and Honda are working together to administer this recall incentive program.
Arizonans who own Honda or Acura vehicles with unrepaired defective Takata airbag inflators will receive recall incentive gift cards in the mail. When Honda confirms those consumers have had the Takata airbag inflator in their vehicle replaced, the gift card will become activated, and consumers can use the card the same as a debit card.Back To Top

- Which consumers will receive these recall incentive gift cards?
All owners of Honda/Acura vehicles with unrepaired Takata inflators will receive a letter from the Attorney General that includes a recall incentive gift card.
Owners with the highest risk Takata airbag inflators, as determined by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, will receive these letters first. There will be a subsequent mailing to the remaining owners of Honda/Acura vehicles with unrepaired Takata inflators.Back To Top
- What will eligible owners receive, and how can they have their gift cards activated?
Eligible owners will receive a letter that includes a non-activated gift card. The letter will include information about how to learn more information about the Takata airbag recalls.

The gift card will be automatically activated following Honda confirming the applicable Takata airbag recall repair(s) have been completed for the vehicle.
The owner does not need to take any additional action to activate their card.
Owners can then use the gift card the same as cash wherever Mastercard is accepted. Once activated, the gift card will retain its value through December 2022.Back To Top
